St. John’s-Kilmarnock School (SJK) is a Canadian IB school with a boarding program for Grade 9-12 international students. SJK School has much in common with its home country, Canada - innovative, smart, natural, and safe. With a beautiful 36-acre campus, SJK offers the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum (OSSD) through the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum programmes (PYP-MYP-DP), and co-curricular activities in sports, arts, creativity, leadership, services, and more. SJK develops the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students, ensures our students are well prepared to succeed in their top choice universities and beyond in careers and lives.

SJK School is in Waterloo in southern Ontario, located just one hour west of Toronto. This region is not only one of the centers of Canada’s research and development in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, but also the center of Canada’s knowledge-based economy with strong demand for skilled workers and great opportunities for immigration.

While the majority of SJK’s 520 students are Canadian day students, the boarding residence accommodates up to 50 Gr. 9-12 international students, who are well integrated with local Canadian students in their learning and life on campus to experience the multicultural life of Canada.

IB Continuum School: SJK is one of only 4 boarding schools in Canada offering 3 levels of full IB Programmes. SJK Curriculum encompasses and surpasses the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum (OSSD).

100% University Acceptance: All Grade 12 students graduate with double diplomas (IBDP & OSSD). Most SJK graduates are accepted by the top-tier Canadian universities, some of which are located near SJK, such as University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, and Western University.

Dedicated Teachers: With a student/teacher ratio of 7:1, SJK teachers are inspiring, innovative, and caring. They support students with proactive guidance and counselling in four main aspects: (1) academics; (2) personal development; (3) university counselling; (4) mental health wellbeing.

Language Support: For international students with English as a second language, SJK offers ESL credit courses to strengthen their academic English.

Program Details:

SJK is an IB Continuum School, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes in all three levels (PYP-MYP-DP).

Service opportunities allow students to understand their capacity to make a meaningful contribution to their community and society. Students will learn as they identify and address authentic community needs, and the community benefits through mutual collaboration. Students in Grades 7-12 have the opportunity to make social change through active citizenship and volunteerism in local, national and international communities.
