School Profile
The Rosseau Lake College program highlights the students' need to access the core curriculum as well as to build care and compassion for others, acquire health and wellness strategies, and grow an unending curiosity for the world. At RLC, those values are developed in the classroom and on the playing field; on outtrips, over meals in the dining hall, and during walks along the trails. Being situated away from urban centres, on 56-acres of Muskoka waterfront, grants a unique opportunity for students to live actively and to engage meaningfully with others.
Our greatest distinction within independent schooling—and our greatest advantage—is scale. RLC is the smallest independent school in Canada in terms of student population, and that’s intentional. Our size allows for a genuine sense of partnership between teacher and student, and it creates a shared excitement about educational and personal discovery. Our students benefit from being visible and known to all faculty, peers, mentors, and parent volunteers. No one gets lost in the crowd.
Our academic and co-curricular model has proven itself for more than 50 years. “RLC has absolutely transformed my son,” says a parent of a Grade 10 student. “In every way, he is becoming the person he was meant to be.” That’s what RLC was created to do: help students find what is in themselves, and then share it with each other and the world.
