School Profile

Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is a co-ed independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC, Canada. Our school provides an independent educational experience for students from age three to Grade 12 that focuses on providing robust academics, promoting healthy social and emotional development, and utilizing student-centred, inquiry-based learning within a supportive community. Supported by the curricular framework of the IB, we strive to offer a learning experience that nurtures creativity, encourages critical thinking, and prepares students for success in their post-secondary studies and beyond.

A GNS education is intended, and designed, to open the universe of possibilities to every student and to ignite their passion for their own unique futures. We help students discover who they are, not just what they want to be. Building on our foundation as a university preparatory school, we encourage students to be curious, engaged and balanced learners who are ready to take positive risks, make mistakes and follow their own path. They leave knowing they will forever be supported by the GNS community. They leave knowing they can make a difference.

Admission & Entrance Test Requirements

Admission Requirements
  • GNS is looking for applicants who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, community involvement, and doing their best each and every day. As part of the application process, students complete an entrance assessment (math, reading, writing) and a character interview to determine their fit with the GNS program. Admissions decisions are made by our Admissions Committee, typically within 1-2 weeks of completing the academic assessment and interview. Applicants who's primary language of communication is not English will be required to complete a third party English assessment - our preferred partner is the Duolingo English Test, but applicants may also submit TOEFL or IELTS so long as the test results are less than 6 months old.

Entrance Test Requirements
