School Profile
The Bishop Strachan School is located on seven acres in a residential area in the heart of Toronto. With a diverse student body, BSS is home to students from around the world. We offer a full co-curricular program that includes student leadership, the arts, athletics and academic teams. Our campus is a true intersection of old and new, including our main building, an architectural icon constructed in 1915, our modern, bright and functional Junior School built in 2004, and the new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) wing that opened in 2017. Our culture of powerful learning supports students to hone core academic skills through exploration and discovery. BSS students drive their own learning, embrace complexity and change, and emerge confident, resilient and ready to lead.
BSS Boarding welcomes Grade 8 to 12 students from Canada and around the world. Boarding students create powerful friendships with peers and experience learning that last a lifetime. They are each unique individuals, yet share an important objective: to explore every possibility for themselves at BSS.

Our innovative JK-Grade 12 STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) curriculum provides students opportunities to create, problem solve and design using state-of-the-art technology and design thinking. Our excellent facilities and resources include two design tech labs, laser cutters, 3D printers and more.
Our expert faculty members are highly-qualified, with more than 50 holding post-graduate degrees. We are a member of the Global Online Academy, and our teachers have responded to the recent need for engaging online learning by further developing their training in this area.

Community Service & Trips
BSS students have many opportunities to give back to their communities, find a purpose larger than themselves, gain perspective, and help make the world a better place.
Community service opportunities have included peer-to-peer tutoring for elementary school students in areas such as math, coding and reading; working with advocacy organizations such as CNIB; collecting and stocking food for local food banks; special events such as Holiday Love (an annual drive to collect basic necessities for families in need); and the Community Voices program, which enables students to investigate issues, engage in civic life, and advocate for change within and beyond BSS.
We encourage our students to go beyond their comfort zones by traveling outside their province or country. Past Global Experiences include volunteering at a clinic and learning about ecological conservation in Costa Rica, CIS Drama Festival workshops led by the cast and crew of Stratford Festival plays in Stratford, Ontario, and language and culture immersion in France.
Summer Programs
The BSS Summer Academy is an exceptional way to get ahead, catch up or explore something completely different. We welcome students entering Grades 9 to 12 to our beautiful campus every summer for outstanding learning in four-week Credit Courses, one-week Skills Courses and Debate Camp.
Dates, course offerings and fees for Summer 2021 will be available on our website in February 2021. Visit www.bss.on.ca/summer-academy for more details.
