School Profile
Athol Murray College of Notre Dame is a private, independent, co-educational boarding high school, rooted in Catholic tradition and open to students of all faith backgrounds. Notre Dame is committed to developing young men and women to become purposeful leaders with virtuous character. Notre Dame provides an exceptional educational and boarding experience with a balance of strong academic, athletic and spiritual growth in a safe and caring prairie environment. Notre Dame currently has 85% of our students living in the dorms from across Canada and the world.
The school began its life in 1920 as a convent school, though came into its own—and gained the present name—after Father Athol Murray arrived in 1927. Murray is one those great Canadians that we all should know more about. Charity was a guiding principle, and he believed that quality education was to be offered to all, if they wanted it, whether they could pay for it or not. Indeed, many students he admitted couldn't, and he took them anyway. It was on that basis that he was invested into the Order of Canada.
The attention to values, leadership and character is important and while most tend to look first at the hockey program, the list of notable alumni is impressive even without the NHL players. The ideal student is one looking for a strong foundation for their careers at university and beyond.

Community Service
House Leaders
Grade 12 students are selected to assist House Parents by providing daily leadership and mentorship in the dorms. This honour is presented to students who demonstrate compassion, leadership, enthusiasm and care for others.
Hounds for Humanity
Students determine the needs of the local community and address them in a practical manner. Students organize events in conjunction with local community groups. Examples include: blood donation clinics, fundraising events and charity walks.
Works of Mercy
Students at Notre Dame are required to perform a minimum of 10 hours of community service per year. One of the ways in which they can complete this service requirement is by participating in our Works of Mercy Outreach program, in which Hounds provide tutoring and mentorship to inner-city Regina youth who benefit from the positive influence and encouragement of our students.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The SRC is a group of students who plan social functions, encourage school spirit, promote an understanding of the rights and privileges, responsibilities and duties of the students and liaise between students and staff.
